Beckee Garris is a Catawba potter who also makes baskets using longleaf pine needles & split bamboo. In this workshop designed for beginners or those with some experience, each participant will learn the basics of basket weaving and leave with a completed, or nearly completed Berry Basket. Just in time for the summer harvest.
Beckee Garris is a Catawba potter and basket maker. She is the Language Keeper of the Catawba Nation and performs other duties when called upon by the Tribe. Involved with the Native American Studies Center since it began, she is Programs Assistant. Her pottery is included in the collection at the Native American Studies Center and she sells her pottery, baskets and jewelry at art fairs and events.
The Lancaster County of the Arts in partnership with the Lancaster County Library Main offers “Creative Tuesdays at the Main.” These workshops, held on the 2nd Tuesday of Jan, Mar, May, July, Sept, and November, offer a variety of types of classes for hobbyists, beginners, and professionals.
Registration Deadline is May 6, 2022 @ 5pm.
