Art in the City Exhibition

Art in the City is a club comprised of new, aspiring, and professional artists residing in the Sun City Carolina Lakes community in Indian Land, South Carolina.  Throughout the year, we make art in our homes, in our club house, and outside in the community.  We are always striving to master and learn new techniques to present the world around us.  Annually in March, we host the "Celebrate Art" Exhibition to display our club works and raise funds for a local charity related to the arts.  We want to encourage you to become a part of our art journey, to share in our successes, and support our local art programs such as those provided by the Lancaster County Council of the Arts.

Purpose

"To provide opportunities for all artists, beginners through advanced, to participate in working with others for enjoyment and learning, as well as sharing information about art."

Our membership includes many levels of skill from beginners to professional artists. Interests are diverse, watercolor, acrylics, oils, pastels, mixed media and everything in between. A core group of close to 90 members participate in our many opportunities which include:
• Ongoing displays of art in the Lake House and Ivy Room
• Annual Art Show, open to the community
• Workshops, led by member artists
• Open Studio Days several times each month, an opportunity to work along with, learn from, and help other artists
• Plein air outings

In addition to all of the above, our club is a place where we come to build friendships with fellow artists and build community. The members of Art in the City are excited to have this wonderful opportunity to showcase our art at the Historic Springs House in Lancaster. We want to thank the Lancaster County Council for the Arts for this opportunity and Eric Grace and his staff for putting this all together. This opportunity encourages all of us to create more art, learn more and share our art with the greater community.
